Philip proposed to me in Barcelona on August 31, 2013 at Parc del Laberint d’Horta.

Why Parc del Laberint d’Horta:

Philip and I are always saying that it is amazing that we found each other.  I am from the Philippines and Philip grew up here in the US in NJ.  Prior to meeting we did not have any mutual friends and we both had never been to the “Globe” (a bar where we met after the Filipino parade) before.  We like to call it fate that we found each other that day!  Philip chose the Labyrinth/maze as the venue as he felt it represented our relationship and how we eventually found each other.   Parc del Laberint d’Horta is an historical garden in the Horta-Guinardó district in Barcelona, and the oldest of its kind in the city. Located in the former estate of the Desvalls family, next to the Collserola ridge, the park comprises an 18th century neoclassical garden and a 19th century romantic garden.  In the center of the Labyrinth/maze is a statue of Eros (Cupid).

The Set Up:

Prior to leaving for Barcelona Philip enlisted the help of a photographer named Veronica Hansen who printed a photograph Philip took of the place we first met.  A bar named “The Globe”.  Photo below.

He asked Veronica to frame and place this photo in the center of the labyrith/maze at the base of the statue of Eros. He knew this was going to be the place to do it and Veronica was going to capture it all.  As we walked through the park that day Philip explained why he really liked this park and mentioned to me that there was some very interesting things to find in the Labyrinth and something very special at the center of the maze.  I was clueless as to what was about to take place.

Caption:  This picture was taken by Phil 5 minutes before he proposed to me.  You can see the statue of Eros in the center.  I had absolutely no idea but was wondering why Phil’s hands were shaking a bit.  I found out later that Vernoica was waiting in this area ready to run into the maze and place the picture at the base of the statue.

I happily and enthusiastically said YES!  I am so happy that I get to marry my best friend, my everything, my heart and my soul.  Phil means everything to me and I cannot ask for more.
